Rob : One The Map of Consciousness

The Map of Consciousness

Posted on Mar 1st, 2006 by Rob : One Rob

To start, it might be best to first explain how one arrives at a calibration in reference to the map.
The technique is called kinesiologic testing(k-testing).
It is reccommended that one do k-testing with a partner.
To begin, the tester and test subject should face eachother, a few feet apart.
The tester places his right hand on the left shoulder of the test subject, and the test subject extends her right arm out to the side, parallel with the ground.
The test subject closes her eyes, and the tester presses down with 2 fingers on the wrist of the subject while saying "Resist".
The test subject should resist the pressure fairly easily and be able to maintain firmness in the arm.
Next, the test subject is asked to hold in mind someone or something that they love dearly and have fond memories of.
The same 'resist' command is given, and the test subject should respond with same or greater firmness than the initial test.
Next, the subject is asked to hold in mind something upsetting; a sad/unhappy memory, idea or person.
The resist command is given yet again, only this time, the subject will not be able to resist with the same firmness. With even minimal pressure from the tester, the arm should go weak and be pressed down easily.

At this point, tester and test subject should have a good idea of what differentiates between a strong response and a non-response(weak).

The underlying principle behind the technique is that truth and integrity have an anabolic(positive effect) on the field of consciousness, while false, non-integrous things have a catabolic(non-positive) effect on the field.
The muscle response is able to register a positive effect in the field.
As though truth were electricity, one might say that a strong response happens when the electricity is on, and a weak response happens when the electricity is not on(so a weak response is really just a non-response).

Other ways that one can test include having the test subject hold an object to her solar plexus and simply hold nothing in mind, while the tester states "this _____ is positive. Resist" (it's important to use a declarative statement rather than a question).
This method has been in use for centuries in India...used to test whether a piece of fruit has gone bad for example.

An interesting excersize is to go through one's music, book and dvd collections using this technique. The results of the test are impersonal(though they can be affected if the interest is not in arriving at truth, but rather in preserving bias--it's important to be unattatched to the answers) so even films or music that we may cherish, will not always test strong. The technical mastery of heavy death metal music doesn't help at all in bringing its calibration up. It always tests weak. Classical music on the other hand, tests strong.
(important to note, that calibration does not reflect value....no thing is inherently more valueable than another thing. Calibration merely reveals context)

Now that one has a fairly good idea of how to go about achieving a strong or weak response, we can get into doing more refined calibrations which can give us actual numbers on the scale.
(interesting factoid: The k-test itself calibrates at 600, the beginning of nonduality[hence the impersonal results], while using the k-test to do calibrations calibrates at 605 because it includes a greater context)

To get number calibrations, the tester states "On a scale of consciousness where 200 marks the beginning of integrity and 500 marks the beginning of real love, ________ calibrates above 200. Resist."
Supposing the subject tests strong, the tester can state "_______ calibrates above 300. Resist"
and so on, narrowing down the range of possible numbers until an answer is arrived at.

As a point of reference, various books and figures can be tested and compared against results that others have arrived at.
Einstein calibrated at 499
Jesus, Buddha and Krishna at 1000
Socrates at 540
Mahatma Gandhi at 760
Bhagavad-Gita 910
A Course in Miracles Workbook 600
A Course in Miracles textbook 550
Genghis Khan 140
Algebra 405
Metaphysics 460
Carl Jung 520
Isaac Newton 499
SpongBob Squarepants Movie 385
Music of Louis Armstrong 590

(tons more are available in the book Truth vs. Falsehood by David R. Hawkins--you can k-test to see if it is in your best interest to check it out at this time! lol)

Now, there are a few conditions which may result in false-positives, and all around inconsistent results. The main one being distraction. It's of tremendous benefit to be honestly seeking the truth when doing these tests....if you are preoccupied or distracted by roaming thoughts, test results aren't likely to be accurate.
The next main condition is that both tester and subject must calibrate themselves, above 200. About 78% of the world population is below 200(though the calibration overall of the planet is at 205 due to counterbalancing by those who are much higher on the spectrum). In north America, approximately 51% of the population calibrates above 200 though....and interest in pursuing truth is generally indicative of a general sort of integrity, so not to worry! ;-) If you've read this far, you're probably good to go.
The other main concern is the energy system of the body....if it is out of whack one might get wonky results.
One easy safeguard though, is the thymus thump.
The thymus gland is located behind the sternum, just beneath the clavicle. With a clenched fist, thump on the breastbone 3 times, saying 'ha! ha! ha!' with each thump(for a total of 9 has). This should undo any negative influences that have altered your chakra system, at least temporarily.
In personal experience using the thymus thump, it's always accompanied by a feeling of being uplifted...so even if you aren't doing any k-testing, it might be fun to try out (and don't be wimpy and quiet with those thumps and has!).

There are other conditions which may have an effect as well, but for now you should have a pretty solid foundation to get started with!

For reference, here's the map again:

Happy Calibrating!
Feel free to post questions and/or calibrating results if you like!
I'll do my best to give answers.

In Peace,

Wow, I remember reading this book a couple of years ago; had almost forgot about the consciousness map!

Since then, I’ve learned an interesting way to demonstrate the muscle-testing technique for people curious, that is completely impartial, so doesn’t give any results, but demonstrates the concept.

It’s the same as any muscle test, hold out right arm, but put left palm on head.  Test the arm.  Then turn the left hand palm-up on head, and test again.  One ‘completes’/’connects’ the energy field, the other disrupts.

Anyway, thanks for bringing this back up! Might have to do a refresh on the concepts.

Excellent post! Very well written and includes all the good stuff. Love the chart… will come in very handy.

If I might add another book too: ”Your Body Doesn’t Lie” by John Diamond…. explains the physiology behind the Thymus Thump thingy. Don’t want to be having “wonky results”. :-)

I LOVE k-testing/muscle testing… use different versions of it for almost everything….which foods to eat, making decisions, relationships….. but mostly love it for communicating with my horses to determine what is in their Highest and Best at the time. ie: feed choices, activity levels, diagnosis, etc.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom with the group!

Dr. Hawkins’ first exposure to applied kinesiology was at a seminar with Dr. Diamond if I’m not mistaken. I’ll definitely check his stuff out when I get the chance.
