Rob : One The Power of Now

The Power of Now

Just finished reading Eckhart Tolle's 'The Power of Now' last night. Definitely gotta reccommend the book to anyone interested in enlightenment. Having read a fair share of spiritual literature prior to this, I went in with a pretty good understanding of 'the Now'. Nevertheless, Tolle does an excellent job of explaining what it is, using plenty of examples and references that one can add to his own mental library as safety nets in case he finds himself somehow outside the awareness of the Now. One thing that I think may have been useful, would have been to mention that 'the Now' is not the same thing as 'the present'. Certainly one would rather dwell on the present than on the past or future, since the present is where opportunity manifests....but the Now is much more than just this particular instant in time. The Now is the totality of existence...infinite timelessness...past, present, future. The Now is the infinite field of potentiality. I suppose that's the only conclusion one could really come to once he read the book anyway....so it's only a minor thing to be bringing it up. For anyone familiar with the work of Dr. David R. Hawkins, and the Map of Consciousness that he introduced in the book 'Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior', I've self-calibrated 'The Power of Now' at approximately 615. It seems to hover in the range of unconditional acceptance/love, joy, ecstacy, and nonduality.....just falling short of a deep exploration of who or what "I" is(characteristic of the 700s on the Map). For any who are not familiar, here's the map: The Map of Consciousness I'll get more into understanding the map and how to do calibrations in another entry. But for now, let's just say that material that calibrates above 600 is quite extraordinary. -Rob
So now I get to start making my way through the rest of my book queue. Next on the list is 'Why Some Cats Are Rascals' by Boszenna Nowiki. It's a Children's book series that I'm hoping to be able to adapt into a screenplay for Boszenna. She's based it very much on high integrity spiritual principles. An exciting opportunity! The books arrived in the mail this morning, so now I just have to read them and see whether the story is really adaptable, and whether or not I'm up to the task!
