Old Art

it all really flowed out of it's own....so there was really no meaning intent on being expressed as I was making it....but after the fact, in analyzing it myself there's certainly strong meaning in the piece for me.
I started it with the large female face with the hand coming through the eye....which I suppose, subconsciously was something of a symbol for reaching out/exploring, as opposed to just seeing things normally....as a longing to see deeper.
The body that bridges the 2 large faces is missing a right hand...which is sort of related to myself as an artist...expressing a sort of impotence so far as meaning goes in my art(up until I created this piece that was largely the feeling I was having concerning my art, that it was becoming boring and meaningless).
Anyways, it was as though I'd come to a climax in my artistic pursuits, and that now I'm ready to reach out in another direction(hence the hand through the eye)
The planes and cylinders are much a representation of the infinite planes of existence, and the stars emanating from the brow of the female head are scattered bits of divine inspiration that haven't yet become part of her identity....more like they're just fleeting glimpses.
The guy at the bottom in the middle is climbing with determination, intent on overcoming obstacles. The hand reaching up and grabbing the lips of the male face symbolizes the obstacle of words...and how they need to be tamed(in terms of harshness and abrasiveness), so that they may actually facilitate peace.
The swirling void on the lower right is the energy that fuels progress...it represents expansion of awareness, and the drive that makes expansion possible.
The faceless mouth/tongue/nose combo getting the drip of water represents the senses....and a longing for more....as though the drip itself were just a taste of something that is no doubt just the tip of so much more.
The tower on the shore is sort of a pillar of truth....and at the top, it starts to become less tangible, as pillars of light/electricity.....the truth is where the drip comes from....one taste of truth, and we're hooked, haha.
The surrounding clouds are the darkness of illusion, which the light of truth penetrates with ease.
On the hills in the background is supposed to be an observatory....looking at truth from a distance.
there's a tall weird ship on the horizon at the bottom....and it basically represents that there is much left to explore just over the horizon, haha.
Interesting how it all came about.
I definitely owe much thanks to my brother for his encouragement to do a piece like this.
